The Permanent Attention Court of the National District ordered 30-year old Elizabeth Silverio Sillien serve three months in preventive custody at the Najayo Women’s Jail as the case against her is prepared. She is accused of impersonating as a neuroscientist without academic or government accreditations.
Lawyers Pablo Miguel José Viloria and Mario Radhamés Matías Parris presented the charges against Elizabeth Silverio Sillen, representing the Ministry of Public Health.
Judge Fatima Veloz says the measure is taken because of possible danger of flight and the seriousness of the accusations. The prosecution and lawyer Felix Portes, representing several parents of children registered at the Kogland Center had requested house arrest.
Silverio Sillien and her husband David Báez Zorrilla were partners in a therapy center for children with autism. Her husband has not been accused.
Later it was known she was taken to a hospital after suffering from an acute urinary infection. Her lawyers Rafael Elena and Cándido Simón said that their client had presented “serious health complications” after spending days at the Palacio de Ciudad Nueva temporary jail.
Meanwhile, the medical doctor whose exequatur was used by self-made “neuroscientist” Elizabeth Silverio has presented a legal complaint against her imposter. Investigative journalist Nuria Piera presented evidence of the irregular use of the exequatur of 34-year old pediatrician Karen Elizabeth Silverio Peralta. Dr. Silverio Peralta is waiting for the Public Prosecutors to determine the fraudulent use of her exequatur that authorizes her to practice medicine.
El Dia reports that on the day the National District Court heard the charges and ordered preventive custody, lawyer Emiliano Ortega presented charges for the fraudulent use of the pediatrician’s exequatur by the self-made neuroscientist.
In the interview with TV investigative journalist Nuria Piera, Elizabeth Silverio defended herself saying that her staff that was duly accredited signed the prescriptions and consultations.
