Crismery Santana won the silver medal in the snatch after lifting 116 kilograms in the weightlifting competitions of the 24th Central American and Caribbean Games taking place in San Salvador, El Salvador. In the 109 kg men’s category, her teammates Ander Paniagua in the lunge and Ezequiel German in the snatch lifted their weights to win bronze. The Dominican weightlifting team ended with three golds, three silver and 10 bronze medals. The performance, nevertheless, fell short of the team’s performance in the previous Barranquilla 2018, when the team had won 20 medals (6 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze).
The duo of Julibeth Payano and Bethania Almánzar won the silver medal in women’s beach volleyball after losing two sets to one to the Puerto Rican duo.
Gymnasts Yamilet Peña and Audrys Nin Reyes won medals in the apparatus finals. Peña won the silver medal after scoring 13.400 points, while Reyes won the bronze with 12.650 points.
