In an interview with Listin Diario, National District senator Faride Raful announced she wishes to continue as senator of the National District. There has been speculation in the press that the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) would be negotiating the National District seat with Guillermo Moreno, of Alianza Pais. Neither the PRM nor Moreno have denied nor confirmed the speculation.
Raful said she aspires to a second term with President Luis Abinader heading the government. Abinader has not confirmed he will run for reelection.
