Deputies voted on Wednesday, 19 July 2023 to extend the deadline for the entering into effect of the Law of Extinction of Domain 340-22. The new date is 28 January 2024. The legislators voted to amend Art. 107 of Law 340-22 that was mandated to go into effect on 28 July 2023.
The deputies argued they need more time to adapt the law’s provisions to the Dominican legal system. The Executive Branch had enacted the law on 28 July 2022. Legislators have yet to draft the required complementary legislation, including provisions that would govern the administration of the assets in extinction and seized.
