The Dominican Episcopalian Conference held mass at the Santo Domingo Cathedral to welcome the new Papal Representative in the Dominican Republic, Apostolic Nuncio Piergiorgio Bertoldi. He is also apostolic delegate to Puerto Rico.
Born on 26 July 1963 in Milan, Italy, the new Roman Catholic Church’s diplomatic representative will be 60 this year. He was ordained a priest on 11 June 1988.
As reported in El Nuevo Diario, he has served in Uganda, Congo, Colombia, former Yugoslavia, Romania, Iran and Brazil.
He has served as apostolic nuncio to Mozambique, Niger and Burkina Faso in Africa.
