Rains forecast as tropical wave comes our way

A tropical wave passing over Puerto Rico is expected to bring heavy rains to the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, 26 July 2023. Already, rains were falling on Tuesday. The system is also refreshing the high summer temperatures.

The Weather Office (Onamet) is alerting to possible flooding in Greater Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Samaná, San Cristóbal, La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, Peravia, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Barahona and Pedernales.

Weather is expected to improve by Thursday and Friday, with scattered showers forecast for Greater Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Duarte, Sánchez Ramírez and María Trinidad Sánchez.

The Weather Office (Onamet) forecasts temperatures in Greater Santo Domingo from 33-35C and in the early morning from 23-25C. Onamet reports highs of up to 36C in Punta Cana, and lows of 12-14C in Constanza, in the mountains.
