President Luis Abinader enacted Law 41-23 that declares the province of Espaillat as an ecotouristic province. The declaration comes with tax incentives and opens doors for accelerated development of tourism in the northern province.
The new law creates the Provincial Fund for the Ecotourism Development of the province of Espaillat to be financed by the central government as well as with donations and contributions from individuals, national and international organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and public and private institutions.
Espaillat is home to several beaches along its Atlantic coastline. Moca is the capital of the province.
The province is known for its original faceless dolls, produced by the Asociación de Artesanos del Higüerito.
Popular beaches include the Playa Rogelio, with its many beach side stands for eating fried fish and other typical dishes right on the beach.
Cultural tourism attractions in the province include the Moca city cathedral and the Museo Presidente Ramon Caceres with its nearby tridimensional street.
Los Bueyes de Villa Trina water falls and Jamao ecotouristic excursions are also located in Espaillat.
