Michel Cohen de Friedlander is named ambassador in Israel

Dominican Ambassador in Canada, Michel Cohen was named to be the country’s ambassador to Israel. She is replaced by appointed Hans Dannenberg Castellanos.

Born in La Vega, Dominican Republic, Cohen grew up in Jerusalem, Israel and the United States and studied in Spain, England and France.

She is a lawyer, career diplomat, and specialist in economic law and regulatory regimes, competitiveness law, international trade, energy and industrial development. She has represented the DR to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations and the Organization of American States (OAS).

She has a master’s in International Business, International Human Rights Law and International Relations, from the European Graduate Institute of Madrid, the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and FLACSO, and from the Postgraduate Program in International Relations at INTEC in the Dominican Republic, respectively.

She has a law degree from PUCMM in Santo Domingo. She also graduated with honors in Competition Policy and Economic Law from INDES/BID. She is certified in Competitiveness Law from Escuela Iberoamericana de Competencia (CNMC), Competitiveness Law from Maastricht School of Management of Netherlands; Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from IIDH, Strasbourg, France; Security and Antiterrorism from CHDS Perry Center, Defense University, Washington, USA.

The appointment is in Presidential Decree 308-23.
