Elly de la Cruz emulates Barry Bond’s record

Cincinnati Reds’ incredible Elly de la Cruz has done it again. The 21-year old on Sunday, 13 August 2023 became the second fastest MLB player after legendary Barry Bonds to reach 10 or more home runs and 15 or more stolen bases in his career, according to ESPN Stats.

Since he started with the Reds in June 2023, and after only 58 games in the MLB, the Cincinnati Reds shortstop hit his 10th home run of the season against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Only Barry Bonds has achieved those numbers faster. Bonds needed just 57 games to record 10 homers and 15 steals during his rookie season in Pittsburgh in 1986.

Elly de la Cruz continues to draw fans and make headlines as he unleashes on the competitors the mortal effects of his power at the bat and his speed in running the bases.
