The Dominican Republic’s senior volleyball team leads the start of the NORCECA Pan American Cup Final Six, taking place at the Ricardo Arias National Volleyball Pavilion in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. The DR women defeated Mexico 3-0 during the Sunday, 20 August 2023 game (25-14, 25-18, 25-11).
Geraldine González contributed 15 points and led the Dominican offense. Madelin Guillén added another 14, while Vielka Peralta finished with 11.
As the Dominican team is known, the Queens of the Caribbean outscored Mexico in spikes 35-25 and blocks 12-2.
Marcos Kwiek, coach of the Dominican Republic, told NORCECA: “Happy for the victory and for the obvious result, mainly for having allowed several of the girls to have more time on the court because after this tournament. We have a Continental that is extremely important for us because of the points that it offers for the world ranking, and I am interested that all the players are prepared to play and give it all.”
