La Vega is named an eco-touristic province

President Luis Abinader issued Decree 47-23 that declares La Vega as an ecotourism province. The decree will bring tax incentive advantages for tourism development in the province. The decree creates the Ecotourism Development Council of the province of La Vega presided by the Minister of Tourism. Other members are representatives of the ministries of Culture, Defense and Environment, the mayor and the governor of La Vega, and private sector representatives.

La Vega is a mountain tourism destination known primarily for being home to the tallest mountain peak on the island (Pico Duarte) and the vacation areas of Jarabacoa and Constanza. It has more than 20 protected areas and is popular with those seeking adventure and ecological tourism.
