Ministry of Tourism to inject RD$52.9 million in Bayahibe

Tourism Minister David Collado announced road improvements for RD$52,946,746 in the southeastern coastal beach town of Bayahibe. The roads seek to improve the connection between the different communities in the municipality.

“These works are just the beginning of everything we have to turn this destination into a true model because Bayahibe’s time has come,” Minister Collado proclaimed. Bayahibe and Dominicus are located in the western side of La Altagracia province, but for years have been promoted as part of the La Romana province.

Ana Garcia Sotoca, executive director of the Romana-Bayahíbe Tourism Cluster, highlighted the impact that the works will have on the destination.

The Ministry of Tourism’s Executing Committee of Infrastructures in Tourist Areas (CEIZTUR) is implementing the road improvements.

The Ministry of Tourism explains paving and drainage works will be carried out at 3.5 km of roads in the community leading to the main road from the Autovia del Este (Autopista Oscar de la Renta). The streets to be improved are the Franco Epósito, Escuela Juan Brito, Paralela Manantial and the access section to the parking area for busses bringing tourists that take boats in Bayahibe to Saona Island.
