A dog-loving Traffic Safety and Land Transport (Digesett) traffic agent was recorded when he rescued a street dog stuck in flooding rains and carried him across an avenue to a less trafficked street. The video went viral.
The Digesett announced that on Wednesday, 30 August 2023 the Animal Protection Brigade (BPA), recognized the agent for his gesture.
Sergeant Carlos Miguel Taveras Mejía became a hero. The video of him carrying and taking a dog to a safe place was a trending topic on social networks, the Digesett press release explains.
Digesett director, General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta and the Animal Protection Brigade delivered a recognition scroll to Taveras Mejía. The traffic policeman was admitted as an honorary member of the animal protection organization.
“Taking into account the capacity and willingness to work assumed by you as a Digesett agent during the rescue and protection of a dog in danger, and in compliance with Law 248-12, this Brigade appoints you, through an ordinary meeting dated 29 August 2023, as an honorary member,” the acknowledgment reads, as reported by Diario Libre.
The recognition was delivered by the president of the Animal Protection Brigade, Tomás Montero, and a delegation of members and executives of that entity.
