The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) called off the physician strike at private and public hospitals. The protest seeks to pressure the insurance plans to incorporate better conditions for patients and physicians in the medical plans.
Dr. Senen Caba says he called off the strike because of the surge in cases of dengue , the seasonal mosquito-born tropical disease. The disease is mostly affecting children. People are urged to take preventive measures such as making sure to eliminate breeding grounds for mosquitos.
