President Luis Abinader recommended that Haitian gang members turn themselves into the UN task force in Haiti. Speaking during the weekly La Semanal news conference on 2 October 2023, President Abinader said that the worst thing that can happen to the gang members is to come here. “If they come here it will not go well for them. We are well prepared and we know what to do,” said President Abinader. “I recommend that they surrender to the Kenyan forces. They will do better than if they come here.”
