The Chamber of Deputies voted Stamy Rafaela Colon Tatis, of the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), to replace Miguel Gutierrez (PRM-Santiago). Gutierrez finally resigned the position. He is in jail in the United States as he awaits the trial’s outcome for his ties to drug trafficking.
Colón Tatis had sought to be the PRM candidate in the 2020 election, losing to Miguel Gutierrez. She will complete the term of Gutierrez, which will end on 15 August 2024.
