
The director of the Technical Formation Institute (Infotep) of the Dominican Republic, Rafael Santos Badia signed an agreement with Barbados to train Dominican teachers.
The agreement was signed during the events part of the 46th ILO-Cinterfor Meeting held in Punta Cana from 4 to 6 October 2023.
Leaders of vocational centers in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal were in Punta Cana for the event Infotep hosted.
With this agreement with Barbados, the trainers and teachers of both entities and the students will implement joint activities, including virtual and in-person exchanges for professional technical training.
Santos Badía highlighted that the entity already cooperates with Jamaica, Aruba, Curacao, Antigua and Barbuda. With the recent agreement, the country formalizes its exchanges with Barbados. He explained the overall goal is to increase the exchange of knowledge, trade and investment among the Caribbean countries.
For his part, Henderson Eastmond, executive director of the TVET Council (TVETC) in Barbados, said that Infotep teachers are currently being trained in the English language in Barbados, meaning that the collaboration has already begun.
