The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) National Internal Election Committee announced that 33-year old Jesus Stalin Vasquez Marte, son of Minister of Interior & Police Chu Vasquez, is their candidate for senator for the province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez. Chu Vasquez is a former senator for the same province.
Vasquez Marte has a bachelor’s degree in law from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). He was head of the Puerto Plata senatorial office from 2016-2020 and currently works as director of relations with the legislature and judicial branches on behalf of the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency.
Andres Guillermo Lama Perez (Guillermito Lama), nephew of Mario Lama, director of the National Health Services Agency (SNS) was chosen to be the senator for Bahoruco province.
These two participated in the polls carried by Gallup Dominicana, Centro Económico del Cibao and Ipsos.
