Carmen Ligia Barceló González’s father, Ricardo Barceló, was the senator for Hato Mayor province. Her mother, the late Ligia Carmela González Loinaz, was known for her volunteerism and activism favoring the Hato Mayor community. Barceló González presides the Fundación Barceló Salas in Hato Mayor. The Barceló family in Hato Mayor is known for their agro-industrial ventures and community leadership.
Now Carmen Ligia Barceló González, who moved up the ranks as a journalist, was chosen to be a ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) candidate in the 19 May 2024 congressional elections.
Barcelo Gonzalez has a máster in marketing from the Universidad Internacional de Valencia, Spain and is a graduate in social communication from the Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo, in the capital city.
