The people of Bonao welcome all to the Saturday, 4 November Bonao Fashion Experience to be held at the Hotel Rancho Guacamayos on the outskirts of Bonao in Monseñor Nouel province.
Bonao is located in the heart of the Dominican Republic. Bonao Fashion Experience creators Aurelio Ferrer and Gean Abraham seek to add fashion to the culture and gastronomy that for years have distinguished this central area of the Dominican Republic. Bonao is the central point between the north and south of the country and is easily accessible by the Duarte Highway.
Bonao is best known for its roadside restaurants – Tipico Bonao, Miguelina, El Anzuelo, among others. It is also known for its artists – Santos de Palo, Museo de Arte Cándido Bidó, Cristian Tiburcio’s Casa Escultura Bonao. It is known for its waterfalls – Saltos de Jima.
Hector Acosta is its senator. He is better known as a merengue and ballad singer.
The November fashion show will be a first for Bonao. Its promoters say they seek to highlight the authenticity and diversity of Bonao and inspire participants to explore. The event has the backing of leading fashion experts such as Gianina Azar.
The promoters promise a multi-sensory experience so participants can capture the essence of this unique city. The fashion shows will incorporate traditional and contemporary elements, craft exhibitions celebrating local artists and there is a culinary proposal that highlights popular dishes made with local ingredients.
“In this event, which we intend to hold annually, we commit to project the enormous potential and talent that the people of the Monseñor Nouel province have, with the firm purpose of continuing to show the world that we are a multifaceted region,” says Ferrer.
The Bonao Fashion Experience will include the presentation of typical merengue orchestras, the performance of a carnival group, presentation of works in clay, interaction with macaws and horses, among other attractions, explains Gean Abraham.
He said the event will honor those who have excelled in the past, but it also looks to the future, encouraging innovation and collaboration between entrepreneurs and companies. A space has been created for new-to-market brands. He explained the effort seeks to be a platform to promote these and grow in the orange industry.
