People are attending to emergency rooms following government recommendations to see a doctor when there is a fever. The situation has caused problems for patients requiring medical attention for other conditions. It is now difficult to find a spot in an emergency room in a hospital. Routine procedures are being delayed as medics are occupied with possible dengue cases.
The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) and representatives of specialized medical societies met with officials of the Ministry of Public Health on 24 October 2024 to offer support to address new strategies to confront dengue.
