Extra caution when driving in DR

Trauma hospitals are reporting an ever-increasing number of accident victims in their ERs. So far this year, there have been a little over 2,000 persons killed in accidents on Dominican roads and highways.
The World Health Organization (WHO) places the Dominican in the number one spot on this earth for deadly highways, with 65 deaths per 100,000 population, year in and year out.

An example of the issue is the fact that the Ney Arias Lora Trauma Hospital alone has so far this year attended about 32,000 victims of accidents, and 60% of these (19,200) were from traffic accidents.

Most victims are young men between the ages of 19 and 45, and the unfortunate part is that nearly a third of these have lasting impairments from the accidents and this almost always prohibits these persons from entering or remaining in the job market.
