More gold came with the victory by Yunior Alcantara over Michael Douglas of Brazil. The medical team of the Pan Am Games declared the Brazilian contender unfit to fight during the prefight examinations. The 51 kg title won by Alcantara is the fourth boxing gold medal won by Dominican fighters. Alcantara joins Joan Guzman, Juan Ubaldo Cabrera, and Rodrigo Marte as gold medal winners in Pan American boxing.
Alcántara also won the pass to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
