Vice President Raquel Peña, who heads the weekly meetings to follow up on the National Security Plan, said that investigations are ongoing to determine the persons responsible for the chaos in the Colonial City on Saturday, 28 October 2023, for Halloween.
Vice President Raquel Peña reported on Monday, 30 October 2023 that the director of the National Police, Eduardo Alberto Then, has ordered an exhaustive investigation to determine what caused the chaos and disorder in the Colonial City in the so-called “teteo” on Saturday, 28 October.
After the meeting every Monday to monitor citizen security, the Vice President stated that the objective of the investigation is to know, in addition to the causes, who were responsible for what happened in the Colonial City so that they receive the corresponding punishment, regardless of who they may have been.
“It doesn’t matter who it was; they are going to receive their punishment,” Raquel Peña stated forcefully.
During the meeting with the press, Peña announced that, on the other hand, the Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez, has arranged a meeting with the Ministry of Tourism, with the Mayor’s Office of the National District and with all the institutions and addresses that can contribute positively to the security of the Colonial City.
President Luis Abinader said during the weekly La Semanal press conference on Monday, 30 October 2023, that all measures will be taken to impede a repeat of the security issues that arose on Saturday.
