He had admitted he was motivating his staff to fund-raise for the presidential reelection campaign of President Luis Abinader. Porfirio Peralta, head at Promipymes, is out of his job via Decree 555-23. He had been in the position since the start of the Abinader administration in August 2020.
Each employee at Promipyme was given a book of 100 tickets to sell. Each ticket cost of RD$200.00.
The general director of Ethics and Government Integrity (Digeig), former Vice President Milagros Ortiz Bosch said the raffle held to obtain funds for the political campaign, as admitted by the director of that entity, is a violation of Public Service Law No. 41-08.
Ortiz Bosch explained that Article 80 of the Public Service Law states that requiring, inducing or forcing subordinates to participate in political or partisan activities for their benefit or the benefit of third parties is against the law. Government officials are banned from establishing forced contributions for their own benefit or that of third parties using their authority or position.
Earlier, Peralta had canceled the raffle that would take place on 24 December 2023.
