Franco-Dominican deputy Eleonore Caroit to speak at French Week

Franco-Dominican deputy Eléonore Caroit who represents the French who live in Latin America and the Caribbean is scheduled for two talks during French Week in the Dominican Republic. Her talks will be on Monday, 13 November 2023 at the Alliance Francaise at 7:30pm and on Wednesday, 15 November at the Hotel Embajador, the main venue of the French Week, at 9am.

The French Week (Semana de Francia) is a signature event that seeks to strengthen France-Dominican Republic business ties while celebrating the existing relationships. This year the presentations are centered around infrastructures. Concurrently with the event, the regional meeting of the French Counsellors for Foreign Commerce in Latin America will take place in Santo Domingo.

The theme for the 5th edition of French Week in Santo Domingo is “Responsible infrastructures, a development path.” French Week is about business meetings, exhibitions and this year there will be conferences on renewable energy, the environment and technological innovation. Workshops and B2B business meetings are organized by the French-Dominican Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFD) and the French Embassy in the Dominican Republic.

Eléonore Caroit is a political figure who has become an essential link between France and the 33 countries in Latin America. She grew up in Santo Domingo and studied at the French Lyceum and then at the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and the Sorbonne, and thus is in a unique position to connect meaningfully with both cultures.

Caroit also received a master’s degree in law from Columbia University where she specialized in international law and arbitration international.

In the French National Assembly, she holds the vice-presidency of the Foreign Affairs Commission and the vice-presidency of the Group of Friendship France-Dominican Republic, that enables closer interacting through diplomacy parliamentary.

In her role as deputy, Caroit focuses on three key areas: defending the interests of French people abroad, strengthening ties between France and Latin America, and actions for the preservation of the environment and sea and ocean floors.

As vice president of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the National Assembly, Caroit is commonly requested to comment and debate on the French position on international affairs, including the current situation in the Middle East.

Within the framework of her mandate, Caroit has held meetings with presidents and heads of state of the countries that she represents, both in her trips to the region and in in their visits to France, playing a crucial role in the dialogue between France and Latin America.

During her stay in Santo Domingo, Caroit will be available on Tuesday, 14 November 2023 for interviews and to share her experiences as a representative in France, as well as the actions she carries out to strengthen the Latin American presence and Caribbean in that country.
