The government has announced that starting next Monday, 4 December 2023 the Abinader administration will begin issuing the checks for the traditional Christmas bonuses, including the 13th wage awarded to most public sector workers.
Tony Peña, the coordinator of Social Policy, announced the government would add RD$1,500 Christmas bonus to the Banco de Reservas de la Republica Dominicana (Banreservas) cards issued to persons regarded as at the poverty level or having earnings below minimum wage. In 2022, over two million cards were issued through community centers, social organizations and in some cases even in door-to-door visits.
