With a search operation for the alleged drug trafficker Jose Antonio Figuereo Bautista “Kiko la Quema,” the municipality of Cambita has been placed under a defacto curfew, declared by the community members themselves for fear of being victims of a shooting. The National Police says Kiko is heavily armed. The police have been on his trail since August 2023.
Classes were suspended in all schools in the communities in the municipality of Cambita and Los Cacaos, in San Cristóbal, by order of the director of School District 04-01, Professor Jeremías Lorenzo, until the situation returns to normal.
