
The director of the Procurement Agency (DGCP) Carlos Pimentel said that his office alerted on three occasions the National Institute of Transport and Transit (Intrant) that there were major irregularities in the contract for the traffic lights system in the National District. Despite the warnings, the Intrant under suspended director Hugo Beras, made payments for RD$200 million. Pimentel says that the defense of Intrant acted as if the government entity represented Transcore Latam, the company under question for major irregularities. The case was sent to the Attorney General Office for prosecution.
