A recent fly-in brought 24 aircraft to the La Isabela International Airport in northern Santo Domingo, a first stop in their visit to the Dominican Republic. Sixty small plane tourists arrived on Wednesday, 13 December 2023 as part of the international air rally.
The Airport Department announced that the aircraft pilots and their crew members took advantage of the Protocol for Non-Commercial Private Aviation launched recently by presidential decree 259-23. The Airport Department coordinates the facilities.
“Non-commercial general aviation in the country is beginning to show its fruits, positively and directly impacting the tourism industry,” said Victor Pichardo, director of the Airport Department, upon personally receiving the group upon arrival to La Isabela International Airport.
