Trauma hospital urges young people to drive carefully

“Our young people are dying!,” laments director Julio Landron of the Ney Arias Lora Trauma Hospital in Villa Mella, as reported in El Dia. During a press conference, the director of the Ney Arias Trauma Hospital exclaimed his concern that the traffic accidents continue to happen too frequently. Most of these accidents could have been avoided.

Dr. Landrón lamented on Monday, 18 December 2023 that most of those who arrive with severe injuries to trauma hospitals are ages 15 to 30 years old. Most of the accidents involve motorcyclists.

As these accidents usually increase during the Christmas season due to the movement of people inland, the Trauma hospital held a press conference to launch its prevention campaign, “A challenge for life”.

The campaign motivates people to respect traffic signs and speed limits to avoid accidents, deaths, and permanent injuries that these can cause.

The campaign also urges people not to use their cell phones while driving.
