President Luis Abinader agreed with the proposal for a political truce over the holidays made by several legislators. The President told the press he favors the break in political activities to start on Wednesday, 20 December 2023. “We agree with the truce. Thank you very much. From today onwards I think we should dedicate our time to the family and Christmas spirit,” said the President.

Municipal candidates have been announced for the 18 February 2024 municipal elections. The candidates for legislative positions and Presidency and Vice Presidency have yet to be announced.
