Senators pass Aerodom contract through 2060 and National Budget 2024

On Wednesday, 20 December 2023, in the last session of the year, the Senate gave a yes to the renegotiated Aerodom/Vinci Airports concession to operate five airports in the Dominican Republic through 2060. The concession would have expired in 2030.

The concession covers the international airports Las Americas (SDQ – Santo Domingo), Gregorio Luperon (POP – Puerto Plata), La Isabela (JBQ – northern Santo Domingo), Maria Montez (BRX – Barahona), and the domestic airport of El Catey (AZS – Samana).

The Abinader administration had included an advance payment of US$775 million in the revenues contemplated for 2024 in the National Budget.

On the same session on Wednesday, 20 December, the Senate approved the National Budget for the year 2024 with its appendices, amounting to RD$1.61 trillion.

Both the concession and the National Budget had passed in the Chamber of Deputies. The bills now move to the Presidency for enactment.
