
The Ministry of Public Health again recommends people to avoid being in indoor crowded places, to return to frequent hand washing and the practice of wearing facial masks. Facial masks are especially important for those affected by a cold or as a preventive action.
The Ministry of Public Health has issued an alert that the new Covid-19 Omicron variant identified as JN1 has come with this flu season. Three cases of JN1 have already been registered. The symptoms are fever or chills, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle aches, headache and sore throat.
The Ministry of Public Health says that the chilly weather creates the conditions for spreading the virus. The Ministry advises people to strengthen their immunity with the free available vaccines that prevent the disease’s severity.
The JN1 variant now accounts for more than one in five cases in the United States and is the dominant strain in northeastern United States. The World Health Organization designated JN1 as a standalone variant of interest due to its rapidly increasing spread.
The virus has been traveling south to the Dominican Republic with the thousands of Dominican expats and tourists that are visiting here.
