The president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Luis Henry Molina Peña, appointed Supreme Court of Justice judge Justiniano Montero as the special investigative judge in the probe against four deputies linked to money laundering operations resulting from drug trafficking.
Judge Montero will replace Judge Napoleón Ricardo Estévez Lavandier, who was recently named president of the Constitutional Court.
The deputies have jurisdictional privileges, according to Art. 154 of the Constitution. A Supreme Court judge needs to hear any charges against the legislators.
He will hear the cases against legislators Nelson Rafael Marmolejos Gil (PRM), Héctor Darío Féliz Féliz (PRD), Faustina Guerrero Cabrera (PRM) and Sergio Moya de la Cruz (PRM).
