The Dominican Republic’s Roman Catholic Church cardinal, Cardinal Nicolás de Jesús Cardenal López Rodríguez was discharged on Thursday, 11 January 2024 from the Center for Diagnostic and Advanced Medicine and Medical Conferences and Telemedicine (Cedimat) where he had undergone hip surgery.
He will need to receive therapy at home for his recovery.
The 87-year old cardinal emeritus had been admitted to Cedimat on 2 December after a fall. He served for 36 years as metropolitan archbishop of Santo Domingo and retired in 2016 due to medical complications. He is suffering from Alzheimers’ disease.
