The Dominican Republic qualified to play football in the Paris Olympic Games. In a preparatory game against Colombia, the DR U23 team lost 5-0 to the experienced Colombian team. This will be the first year a Dominican team plays football in the Summer Olympic Games. The Dominican Republic does not have a tradition in football, but concerted efforts are giving results, and thus the team made the Olympics a major feat.
