Health minister chosen PRM’s candidate for senator in Santiago

The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) announced Public Health Minister Daniel Rivera will be the party’s candidate for senator. The current senator for Santiago, Eduardo Estrella had announced his decision not to seek reelection. Estrella has said he and his party, Dominicanos por el Cambio, will continue to support President Luis Abinader.

The PRM also announced that the current mayor of Higuey, Rafael Barón Duluc (Cholitin) is the party’s choice for La Altagracia province. The current deputy for Barahona Moises Ayala Perez is the choice for Barahona.

The candidates will run in the municipal election set for 18 February 2024.

The Modern Revolutionary Party also announced candidates for deputy positions in Congress. These include: Aquiles Ledesma, for Barahona; Miguel Bogaert, in Santo Domingo; Carlos Sánchez; Alexander Pérez, in San Cristóbal and Daritza Zapata in Dajabón. They will compete in the congressional election set for 19 May 2024.
