Haiti crisis update

Tension continues to escalate in Haiti. Meanwhile, Codevi, the largest single manufacturing enterprise in the Ouanaminthe area, on the border with Dajabon, says workers continue on their jobs, despite efforts of new arrival of Guy Philippe to get these to leave their jobs in protest for the government of Ariel Henry. Philippe was recently deported from the United States, where he served time in a drug trafficking case.

The latest to make news in Haiti is the kidnapping of six Roman Catholic nuns (Sainte-Anne congregation), among other persons, on a bus headed to Port-au-Prince. Pope Francisco is praying for the liberation of the kidnapped. As reported, the kidnappers are asking for US$3 million in ransom.

Haiti Libre reports that there is some normalcy to the binational market in Dajabon, on the Dominican side of the border.
