Olympic Committee announces complementary elections to replace resigning board members

The executive committee of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) approved the resignation of José Manuel Ramos Báez, Irina Pérez Leroux, Rafael Radhamés Tavares, Jorge Blas Díaz García, Luis Francisco Soto Guerrero and Juan Núñez Nepomuceno from the management positions of the high sports organization.

In a meeting held on Tuesday, 23 January 2024, the executives of the COD issued six resolutions, one for each resignation. These were sent to the former board of directors members, accepting their resignations submitted on 9 January 2024.

José Manuel Ramos Báez, first vice president; Irina Pérez Leroux, second vice president; Rafael Radhamés Tavarez, third vice president; Jorge Blas Díaz García, co-secretary general; Luis Francisco Soto, first member, and Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, third member had resigned on 9 January 2024.

Applying the succession protocol, Dulce María Piña will now serve as second vice president. The COD executive said it is applying Art. 43 of the COD statutes and complementary elections will be held for the positions of first vice president, third vice president, co-secretary, as well as for first, second and third members.

The executive committee also approved calling an Extraordinary Assembly to ratify the new Electoral Committee for the complementary elections and choose the date for the election.
