President Luis Abinader is a known Aguilas baseball team fan. But on Tuesday, 30 January 2024, when receiving the baseball team that will represent the DR in the Caribbean Series in Miami, Florida, he said his personal preference is not to be considered. He said now that the Licey Tigers will represent the Dominican Republic in the regional baseball championship, all Dominicans are Liceistas and he, too, will be rooting for the Licey Tigers.
The Licey Tigers will compete in the championship from 1 to 9 February 2024.
