Diario Libre publishes an infographic detailing the provinces with the most area and population.
The details are relevant and timely now that the general elections are approaching. Municipal elections will be on 18 February and presidential and congressional elections on 19 May 2024.
In size, San Juan de la Maguana, in the southwest, is the largest province with 3,569 km2, followed by La Altagracia, where Punta Cana is located, with 3,010 km2. Santiago, where the second largest city is located, is next with 2,836 km2.
Population-wise, Santo Domingo province has the most people with 2,955,339, followed by Santiago with 1,052,088. The capital city, the National District is third with 1,049,567 inhabitants.
