
The National Agricultural Fair (Feria Ganadera) will take place 8 to 17 March 2024 at the grounds of the Ciudad Ganadera off the Malecon in Santo Domingo. The much-expected annual event, brings together farm experts, the farmers themselves, ranchers, business people and prominent figures in the agricultural field. They come together to promote the exchange of knowledge, cutting-edge innovations and to strengthen collaborations for the sake of sustainable agricultural development in the country.
This year nder the motto “United for Sustainable Agricultural Development,” the fair will highlight the importance of collaboration and the adoption of sustainable practices in the sector.
José Mallén, president of the National Board of Livestock Breeders (PNG), says:
“In the current context, the Dominican Republic faces significant challenges related to agricultural sustainability.” The pressures on natural resources, extreme climate events and the need to guarantee food security make imperative the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, he explained upon announcing the event this year.
The National Agricultural Fair 2024 not only represents a celebration of current achievements in the sector, but is also a firm commitment towards a more sustainable and prosperous agricultural future for the sector,” said Mallen.
This 2024, France will participate as a guest country, strengthening international collaboration and promoting the exchange of knowledge and technologies between both nations.
The fair offers a wide variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Among this year’s novelties, a special exhibition of beef cattle under development in the country stands out. In addition, agricultural machinery exhibitions, talks on relevant topics, gastronomic tastings and recreational events will be held for the entertainment of the public.
The National Agricultural Fair 2024 has the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, the General Livestock Agency, the Dominican Agrarian Institute, Banco Agrícola, FEDA and Conaleche.
