Dominican tennis players Alberto Puello, Jossting Cruz and María Gell are competing in the J2 Santo Domingo Copa Merengue for 200 points in the International Tennis Federation ranking for the U18 world tournament. Young emerging tennis talents from around the world are competing at the Parque del Este tennis courts in eastern Santo Domingo. This is the facility where the Pan American Games were held in 2003.
Players from Puerto Rico, the United States, Thailand, Germany, Bolivia, Poland, Belize, Chile, Canada, Peru and host Dominican Republic are competing.
Next week another J2 event, the Copa Los Tres Ojos J2, will also be played at Parque del Este tennis center.
The events are organized by the Dominican Tennis Federation and admission is free to the general public.
