Court sentences German to 10 years in jail for child sex peddling

The Puerto Plata Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office against Illicit Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking, secured a 10 year jail sentence against German citizen Werner Hubert Marchenbeck. The Collegiate Court of Puerto Plata ruled against the German for his participation in the recruitment and sexual exploitation of minors.

The trial prosecutors José Martínez Montan and Marcos Wilkins Díaz demonstrated before the Collegiate Court chaired by Judge Jakayra Veras violations of Law 137-03 on Illicit Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking. as well as article 24 of Law 53-07 on High-Tech Crimes and Crimes, and article 410 of Law 136-03 that protects children and adolescents from sexual exploitation.

The prosecution proved that Marchenbeck was dedicated to recording and photographing girls and women in sexual acts, material that was collected in a raid carried out in the villa from where the accused operated.

The chief prosecutor of Puerto Plata, Kelmi Duncan, indicated that this case highlights the determination of the Public Ministry in the fight against human trafficking, sexual exploitation and the protection of the fundamental rights of the most vulnerable in our society. He said the sentence reflects the continued commitment to rigorously enforce the law and ensure the safety of our citizens.

For his criminal actions, Marchenbeck was ordered to serve his sentence at the San Felipe Correction and Rehabilitation Center in Puerto Plata city.
