Kelvin Herrera will swear in for mayor of Tenares this coming 24 April 2024. The town is located in central Hermanas Mirabal province. The town is a 9km drive from Salcedo, the capital of the province.
Kelvin Herrera had a 10-year career in MLB, most with the Kansas City Royals. On two occasions he was named to the MLB All Star Game. He retired in 2021.
Running for the People’s Force of former President Leonel Fernandez, Herrera received 5,868 votes for 49.8% of the total vote. Around 30,000 people live in Tenares.
Maria Javier Gonzalez, running for the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party, came in second with 46.29% of the vote, or 5,454 votes.
