The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) candidates defeated all contenders in the northeastern province of Samana. Samana will now have PRM city governments in the districts of Samana City where the PRM won with 58%. The ruling party won with 43% in Las Terrenas, 50% in Sanchez, 50% in El Limón, 67% in Arroyo Barril and 79% in Las Galeras.
The municipal elections are won by simple majority, not the 50%+ 1 required to win in the presidential election.
