National District senator debate on Channel 4 on Monday, 4 March

The much-awaited National District senator is confirmed for Monday, 4 March 2024 with the confirmation of all the candidates. The Consejo de Desarrollo Económico de Santo Domingo (CODESSD) is the coordinator of the debate.

Tune in on Monday, 4 March 2024 at 7pm on RTVD, Channel 4, to hear the remarks by National District senator candidates competing in the 19 May 2024 general elections.

Jaime Rincon and Victor Gomez Casasnova are the moderators for the panel of candidates.

The senator candidates for the National District are:

67-year old Guillermo Moreno for the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM). Moreno is a lawyer who has been dean of the UNPHU School of Law. He is a former National District prosecutor. He is the president of the Alianza Pais political party and has run on several occasions for President. This is the first time he runs allied with a ruling party.

32-year old Omar Leonel Fernandez Dominguez is a professional politician. He is the incumbent deputy 2020-2024 for the People’s Force. His main credential is being the son of his father, former three-term President Leonel Fernandez. His father is running for President for a fourth term. Omar Fernandez is a graduate in law from the PUCMM in Santo Domingo. He reports in his LinkedIn page that he has “ongoing” studies at Boston University in the Masters Executive LLM Law program from 2016-2019.

34-yearold Eric Ortiz is running for senator for Opcion Democratica. He is a graduate in business from INTEC in Santo Domingo in 2021. He has a master’s in business from Barna Business School and a postgraduate in corporate finances from INTEC and Inalde Colombia. He has worked with major companies, including Grupo Ramos and Plaza Central.

45-year old Carlos Rubio Martinez is a criminal lawyer specializing in asset laundering. When he was eight his mother died, when he was 13, his father died and he was raised by his grandparents. He is an influential YouTuber and radio commentator. He is running for the Partido Generación de Servidores.

61-year old Vinicio (Vinicito) Castillo Seman is running for the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano. He is a former deputy for the Fuerza Nacional Progresista. He is known as the son of his father, the outspoken lawyer Vinicio Castillo.

The senatorial debate will be transmitted live from 7pm on RTVD, Channel 4. It will also be broadcast on several online, TV and radio channels, including El Nuevo Diario TV Rumba 98.5 FM, Su Mundo TV, Ruta 66, Super Channel 33, Telefuturo 23, Metro TV Channel 10, VTV Channel 32, La Voz del Trópico and El Pregonero TV, among others.
