
Minister of Foreign Relations Roberto Alvarez says the Dominican Republic has assisted nine embassies to evacuate their staff from Haiti through the land border with the Dominican Republic. One of the most recent to leave were three officials that had been stationed at the Embassy of Switzerland in Haiti.
Foreign Minister Alvarez says that the Dominican mission in Port-au-Prince has coordinated the evacuation of officials of nine embassies, in addition to the officials of the World Bank and European Union.
