PRM backs many candidates for 2024-28 Congress with pending accusations in the judiciary

The Supreme Court of Justice in the Dominican Republic has been very slow in proceeding with hearing cases involving several ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) legislators with cases in the judiciary. One PRM deputy, Miguel Gutierrez faced trial in the US for asset laundering when he was arrested entering the United States in May 2021.

Now Diario Libre reports that for the 2024 congressional election set for 19 May 2024, the ruling party has named candidates that have been openly accused in cases of sexual abuse, asset laundering, drug trafficking and corruption.

Diario Libre mentions the names of Monte Cristi senator candidate Bernardo Aleman Rodriguez; deputy Nelson Marmolejos running for deputy in Santiago; El Seibo deputy Faustina Guerrero (Grey Maldonado); and Sergio Moya Goris, running for deputy for the National District.
